If you are anything like me, you are not the best company if you don’t get a good night’s sleep.
Sleep is an integral part of our daily cycles and rhythm. Did you know that the quality of your sleep is affected by the quality of your rhythm during the day?
Our circadian rhythm is innate and constantly being influenced by the universal cycles no matter where in the world we live. Like the moon & the sun, night and day, our bodies are designed to live in cycles of which sleep is one of those. Our body responds well to a regular sleep rhythm, so when we are not consistent we can feel not quite our perky self.
Sleep is a time for our bodies to deeply rest and restore/rejuvenate from the day, however most do not wind down from their day and thus go into sleep taking the day with them. So if you are taking a part of your unresolved day into bed with you then you are most likely not going to have a very settled and restoring nights sleep due to the body not truly being settled.
This is where the Yoga of Stillness plays an important role as it offers the body an opportunity to surrender and let go of the day or any tension one may be carrying. Taking a body to sleep that is more surrendered and settled will most certainly lead to a deeper and more restorative quality sleep and thus a more energised and joy-full day ahead.
